Looking for something to do with the kids during the Christmas holidays? Bring the whole family out for a visit with us and take part in the daily activities and our exhibit galleries.
Admission: $11 Adults, $8 Seniors/Students, $5 Children, Children four and under free, all admissions plus HST.
Please note Doon Heritage Village is closed for the season.

Winter Wonderland
10 a.m. Did you Snow? You see snow often, now see it in a whole new way! Join us for some snow-speriments. Museum 4
11 a.m. Lunar New Year - Join us to explore some of the winter holidays celebrated in the region. Let’s celebrate the Year of the dog. Best for ages 3 and up. Museum F
12 p.m. Ice Hockey Experiment – Explore the science of hockey, Canada’s game. Why do we use the equipment we do? Museum 4
1 p.m. Mummering- Join us to explore some of the winter holidays celebrated in the region. Let’s celebrate this common Newfoundland tradition. Best for ages 3 and up. Museum F

10 a.m. Story Reading Join our staff for story reading in the Hall of Fame. Best for ages 2 to 7. Museum M
11 a.m. Eid- Join us to explore this holiday which is celebrated in the region. Let’s celebrate Eid, Eid Mubarak. Best for ages 3 and up. Museum F

2 p.m.- 4 p.m. Drop in to discover Bangladesh. Ruben and Friends are displaying some traditional Bangladeshi attire, jewelry, cookware, handcrafts, decoration pieces, musical instruments and are here to answer questions.
2:30 - 3 p.m. Listen to some traditional Bangladesh music performed by Ruben and Friends. This folk music presentation will also include some traditional instruments such as the harmonium, tabla, percussion and more.
3 p.m. Meet in the Christie Theatre to explore the wonders of Bangladesh with a short video.

This afternoon we are exploring Irish dance with local dance troupe Intensely Irish.
12:30 p.m. Intensely Irish Performance Troupe will be demonstrating some traditional Irish dance moves with a chance for visitors to participate. Museum 3
1 p.m. Hanukkah - Join us to explore some of the winter holidays celebrated in the region. Let’s light our Menorahs. Best for ages 3 and up. Museum F

This afternoon we are exploring Chinese Culture with the Central Ontario Chinese Cultural Centre
Immerse yourself in Chinese culture at the Waterloo Region Museum.
Visitors can participate in many cultural activities and demonstrations through out the day.
- Have your name written in Chinese
- Explore the Chinese Zodiac and learn about yours
- Try your hand at using chopsticks
- Practice the art of origami
- Create a Chinese lantern
As we ring in 2019, you will also learn about the special customs, traditions and celebrations surrounding the Chinese Lunar New Year

Need to get up and get active to burn off some of the holiday fun? Join us to do just that and explore India
12 p.m. Kathak 101- Join VJ Inamdar in the Christie theatre to explore Kathak, a traditional Indian dance. This hour-long workshop will include a demonstration, brief background and a chance to learn this ancient Indian dance. Best for ages 4 and up. Museum 4

2 p.m.- Odissi 101- Have you ever wanted the chance to learn an Indian dance? Join us to explore one of India’s most famous classical dances from South India. The hour-long workshop will include a brief history and demonstration of the 2000 year-old Odissi dance and end with an Odissi 101 dance class. Best for ages 4 and up. Museum 4
